Ask Your Dev Teams If They are Using AI For Testing

If your dev team isn’t using AI to write tests alongside every feature, they’re leaving quality and speed on the table.
Here’s what I mean. The best teams I work with have made AI-generated tests muscle memory. Every time a developer writes a feature or fixes a bug, the LLM writes the tests that prove it works. Not as an afterthought. Not as a separate sprint task that gets deprioritized when the deadline hits. As part of the same flow.
Why should a founder care? Because untested code is invisible risk in your product. When something breaks in production (and it will), the question is whether your team finds it in five minutes or your customers find it first. Tests are the guardrails that make the difference. And now, with AI tools, the excuse that “we didn’t have time to write tests” doesn’t hold up. The cost of writing tests has dropped dramatically. What used to take half a developer’s afternoon now takes minutes.
The real leverage here isn’t just speed. It’s posture. A team that tests by default ships with confidence. A team that skips tests ships with hope. As a founder, you’re paying for confidence, whether you realize it or not.
Ask your dev team a simple question this week: “Are we using AI to write tests for every change?” If the answer is no, ask why. The conversation alone is worth having.
